5 Things to Avoid in your Advertising-

1. ALL CAPITOL LETTERS IN HEADLINES
All capitol letters in your headlines gives the feeling of yelling or screaming at the reader.
Nobody likes anybody to scream at them.

2. Using the “I am King” reasoning.
The king feels that what he likes is what everybody else likes or should like.
If the king doesn’t read the newspaper, listen to radio, watch TV, look at billboards
or read direct mail, he feels that nobody else does either.
Usually it’s not the medium, it’s the message that doesn’t work!

3. Photos of yourself or family members.
Understand that no one in your company or the person selling you the time or space will tell you that you are not handsome or pretty. Really think about it. What purpose does it serve to put a picture of you or your son or daughter in the advertising? If you are a famous person or if you have a special voice or unique distinguishing feature, this rule may be broken if you get an OK from 5 unbiased sources.

4. Busy ads.
Make it a point to remember that less is more. Say less and you will get your point across.
Use white space in print and less words on the radio and television. Use more headlines in your website - less paragraphs.

5. Use professional talent.
Do not use your voice, your friend as a photographer or one of your employees as
the model...
Professional people are just that… professional. As Ben Franklin said, “Don’t be penny wise and dollar foolish”.
